ProZipTM Speed Toss
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you play it? Two players play with one hitting and the other pitching. The pitcher "pitches" the ball to the batter by "zipping" it
down the ProZip cord by using handle movement to propel the ball.
How does it work? The ProZip is connected to a anchor object by using the heavy duty nylon ProZip clip. A suitable object would be
a pole, tree, door knob, or fence. The unit is clipped to the fence at the proper strike height for the batter hitting. The pitcher propels
the ball down the cord, pass the batter. The batter swings the bat above the cord, practicing a good "top-half" hitting technique.
The batter hits the ball back to the pitcher. The pitcher then "pitches" the batter another pitch.
Is it hard to operate? The product is very simple and easy to use. The pitcher stands about 20 feet from the anchor, grips the handles and pulls
the cord fairly tight. The pitcher positions his hands together with palms facing inward and the knuckles slightly touching. To
begin a pitch the ball is positioned against the handles. The pitcher propels the ball down the line by pulling the hands apart. the
pitcher should strive to keep the cord flat or level.
Can you vary the difficulty and speed of the game? Yes, you can vary the skill level requirements of the game by slowing or speeding up the movement of the ball. The ball's
speed is determined by how quickly the pitcher pulls his hands apart.
Doesn't the string get in the way? I am often asked this question and my reply is always the same. I will tell you like I tell my High school players and the campers at my hitting camps. Use a good level swing, concentrate on the ball, and forget
about the string. You will quickly realize that you actually experience a "stringless" sensation when you hit the ProZip. I must admit that if a player has a major swing flaw such as a "downward chop"
or "upper cut", then the string will be a problem. This player will quickly correct the flaw and develop a correct swing plane. The ProZip is outstanding for teaching players the advantage of keeping the bat on the same
plane with the ball. You will even see players hit line-drives when using the ProZip. The string does not hamper or hinder the batter's swing in any way.
