It's Time to make a great investment.
We all know one basic truth that always remains the same.
"What you get out of something is always directly related to what you put in it!"
In this case we are talking baseball and softball!
And the rule remains the same!
What your son or daughter will get out of his baseball or her softball career will be determined by exactly by what is put into it.
Your child's future baseball or softball career is in your hands. You control his or her destiny!

You are going to have to make three major investments:
- Time and energy
- Love and Support
- Money
|
Time and Energy are the hardest and most difficult investments for you to make. You work hard to make a living. There are many
days when you get home that you are so tired that all you want to do is "kick back and relax". Well, I know that sometimes you just have to
make yourself go out in that yard and work with that son. It is hard to find the energy, but you must. There are days when you are going to
have to make personal sacrifices. You are going to have to "neglect" your golf game because your son's baseball game is top priority right
now!. You are going to have to miss that fishing trip with the "good old boys". There will be plenty of time for you to golf and fish after your
son is grown. What parents must realize is that each kid has a "window" of development time. If that child does not get worked with enough
to develop the necessary skills to be able to compete with his peers, he will be embarrasses and had low self-esteem. And he will probably
not enjoy playing and "hang" it up. It is the responsibility of the parent to teach, develop, and practice with their child. A young players
coach can offer only so much instruction. He is not a miracle worker! Send him a "good" ball player when your son goes on his team.
Besides, he drafted your son, do you not owe the coach and your son some baseball "homework with your son".
|
Love and Support are the most important investment you will ever make. Baseball is an emotional "roller coaster" no matter, at
what level you coach or play. Your son will need parental support, disciplined counseling in order to handle the wide array of emotional
highs and lows that he will experience in this game. One of my old sayings comes to mind, "Always remember in life and in baseball,
nothing is ever as good or as bad as it seems!" Give your child the support he needs. Don't let him get the "big head"! However, remember,
he is just a kid. And he'll only be your kid one time! One day he will be a grown man that has you for his father. And he will be carrying
memories of his youth baseball days with him every day of his life. One day you and he will look back o this time of his life. And you and he
will ask yourselves one of these two questions. What did we do right? What should we have done different? Just remember to use you
common sense, pray a lot, make a commitment and stick with it. Enjoy your son's childhood!. You are his father, role model, and best
friend. And one day, he will grow up to be just like you! |
| Money will be the easiest kind of investment for you to make. You are going to buy whatever he needs to make sure he plays as
good as he possibly can. He deserves the very best. And he is lucky to have a parent that will spend the money necessary to "make things
happen"!

| Attention Parents,
Let me know if I can help you with your team's or son's baseball. If you have a question about anything related to baseball, and you would like my opinion or suggestion,
please send your question to me. I will respond to your email or letter as soon as possible.
If your son is having trouble with his hitting make sure to email me as soon as possible. Describe to me what he is doing or not doing from what you can observe. Is he not
hitting it at all. Is he fouling everything off? Is he "popping" everything straight up. Is he hitting everything in the dirt, just in front of the plate. I will read your description and
give you my opinion as soon as possible.Don't delay, often a player has just a minor flaw that's "messing" everything up!. Make sure to label your request as being URGENT so
that we can get him help and correct the problem as soon as possible!
Sincerely,
Coach Nick Dixon

A Baseball Poem:
Another Swing!
One swing does not make an at-bat.
One at-bat does not make an inning.
One inning does not make a game.
One game does not make a week.
One week does not make a season.
One season does not make a career.
One career does not make a life.
This is baseball, there is always going to be another day.
The sun will come up, the sky will be blue, the dogs will bark, and the birds will sing.
Cheer up son, this is baseball, it's really only a game and we always get another swing!

Baseball Team Prayer
Father thank you for this day and this great game we are about to play.
We ask that you let us play it with dignity, pride and class.
Let us have faith and always look to the next play and never to the last.
Most of all, Father let us make sure to always keep in mind that this is just a game, just one game, that we'll have a chance to play just this one time.
